BOOK REVIEW | Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Basic information
Title: Insurgent (Goodreads)
Author: Veronica Roth (Website)
Series: Divergent #2
Genre: dystopian
Published: May 2012

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love. Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

It took me a while but I finally read Insurgent!

First of all, a lot of people say this isn’t as good as Divergent but it really is. In a different way. A lot of things happen but you have the feeling it’s dragging and it’s boring and Tris keeps getting into trouble but it’s more toward the end that shit starts going down. New twists are added, new people, new secrets and a lot of deaths just like in Divergent. Seriously, I have the feeling Roth is going to kill everyone off and Tris and Tobias will be the last ones standing when this series ends. We are left off with a bigger cliffhanger than in Divergent and there is actually a mindblowing secret (partially) revealed. I’m left off with a lot of questions and I’m craving the sequel REAL BAD.
I can’t seem to form a decent opinion today but I’m trying my hardest to explain how good and amazing Insurgent is. It took me a while (a week and a half) to get through but that doesn’t mean the book isn’t as awesome as Divergent (which I read in a day). Veronica Roth did it again and I am sure the Divergent series will be one of my all times favorites.
